Alexander, 89, of Ligonier, died Saturday, June 19, 1993, in the Bethlen Home, Ligonier. She was born May 22, 1904, in Cambria County, a daughter of the late Harvey and Mary Ellen Shull Baumgardner. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a nurse by the Latrobe Area Hospital as well as in many private homes. She was a member of the St. James Evangelical Lutheran church of Ligonier and its Dorcas Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Alexander, in 1954 and a son, Edward T. Alexander. She is survived by a son, Harry O. Kimmel of Boswell RD 2. Also two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Amanda Francis of Conway, SC, and a brother, Edward N. Baumgardner of Friedens. Friends will be received from 7-9 pm Monday in the J. Paul McCracken Funeral Home Inc., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier, Services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1pm Tuesday, the Rev. William M. Oesterline officiating.
