  ALLEN 

  Gladys Jennie Allen, 96, of McMurray, formerly of Shanksville, died March
  8, 1996, in Canonsburg General Hospital.  Born July 14, 1905, in
  Shanksville, daughter of the late Foster and Rose (Ream) Brant.  Preceded in
  death by a son, Robert, who lost his life in World War II, and a sister,
  Elsie Knepper.  Survived by a daughter, Betty Jane, wife of George Hancher,
  of McMurray; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-greandchildren, and a number of
  nieces and nephews.  Retired postmistress in Shanksville.  Friends received
  from 2-4 and 7-9 pm today (Monday) in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home,
  where service will be conducted at 1:30 pm Tuesday, Pastor Robert L. Hoover
  Jr. officiating.  Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
