He was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Berlin. Son of Clarence William Sr. and Mary (Bowman Krause) Altfather, Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Betty Lou Altfather and Mary Elizabeth Landis. Survived by his wife, the former Evelyn Will; son, Robert William, married to the former Mary Lou Doolan, Salisbury. Brother of Jean, married to Alvin Lambert, Berlin; Dorothy, married to Robert Deeter, Greensboro, NC. Sandra, married to Chester Termin, Temperance, Mich. Also several nieces and nephews. Retired after 20 years as owner and operator of former P & A Appliance in Somerset. World War II Army veteran, having served as a master sergeant with 84th Field Artillery in European Theater, where he earned the Bronze Star. Lifelong member of Trinity Uniteed Church of Christ, Berlin, where he had served as elder. Life member of Berlin VFW and played with Berlin Fife and Drum Corps for over 50 years. Member of Berlin Lions Club. No visitation or viewing. Memorial service will be held at Trinity UCC Berlin, at 3 pm Sunday with Rev. Carl W. Schwarm officiating. Cremains interment, Berlin IOOF Cemetery. Graveside military rite by Berlin VFW and American Legion.
