  ALTFATHER

  Helen Mercedes Altfather, 92, of Somerset, died Oct. 30, 1995, at Siemon
  Lake View Manor Estate.  Born Feb. 22, 1903, in North Braddock, daughter of
  Elmer E. and Mary Catherine Elizabeth (Faupel) Miller.  Preceded in death by
  parents; husband, Lewis F.; son-in-law, Reon Engleka, and daughter-in-law,
  Joan (Hill) Altfather.  Survived by these children: Evelyn Engleka of
  Laughlintown, Walter R., married to the former Elaine Maust of Sarver; Mrs.
  Dudley (A. Carolyn) Daniels of Somerset RD 7; Lewis C., married to the
  former Jane McKenzie of Berlin RD 3; Elmer C., married to the former Sally
  Cashdollar of McKeesport; Robert M., married to the former Miriam Garza of
  San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Carouse of Somerset; 16
  grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren.  Sister of Charlotte Reed of Natrona
  Heights and Isabelle Byron of Broadview Heights, Ohio.  Member of St. Paul's
  United Church of Christ, Somerset.  Graduated from Braddock High School and
  attended Indiana University.  She taught school in Livermore and
  Wilkinsburg.  A former member of Second Society of Farm Women.  Family will
  receive friends from 7-9 pm Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday at Deaner
  Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 2 pm Thrusday, Rev.
  Glenn E. Sadler.  Interment, Berlin IOOF Cemetery.  Memorial contributions
  may be given to St. Paul's UCC of Somerset.
