Born March 15, 1920 in Berlin, he was a son of the late George Frederick and Ada Susan (Miller) Altfather. He was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Robert. He is survived by his wife, the former Audrey Keith; son, Curtis, at home; four daughters: Sallie Trombetta of McKees Rocks and Mrs. Jack (Linda) Mekic of Latrobe; twins Amy and Beth, at home; two grandchildren; and three sisters; M. Geneve Altfather, Berlin; Isabelle Mae Elliott of San Diego, CA; Clara Malinda, wife of Richard D. Sarver of North Versailles. He was a member of the Community Alliance Church, Butler, a retired carpenter with Local 211, Pittsburgh, US Army veteran of World War II, serving with Company C, 165th Engineer Combat Battalion. Funeral services were held at the Community Alliance Church, Butler, with the Rev. Dr. Melvin Vance, pastor, officiating. Arrangements and viewing were under direction of the Kinsey - Volz Funeral Home, Evans City. Interment, Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mt. Chestnut. The Republic July 4, 1985 [A0186]
