Ambill of Wilkinsburg, Pa., were shocked to hear of her sudden death in the McGee Hospital, Pittsburgh, on Thursday, October 5, due to a complication of ailments. Mrs. Ambill was in ill health the past summer and was a patient in the hospital for three weeks. Her death was hastened by paralysis a few days before she passed away. Mrs. Ambill was the daughter of the late Simon P. and Barbara Ellen (Blocher) Kurtz, and was born in Frostburg, Md., May 12, 1871. She was 73 years of age. When she was four months old, her mother was stricken with smallpox and died. Her aunt, Miss Louise Kurtz, and brothers, Dennis and Leonard, resided here. They brought Lillie here and reared and educated her. She learned the milliner trade and conducted the leading milliner store in Grantsville until her marriage. She was also an accomplished musician and was organist of the Reformed Church. Lillie Kurtz was married to Harry W. Ambill, April 12, 1899, by Rev. E. S. Hassler, in the Grantsville Reformed Church. Surviving are two sons, H. Paul Ambill of Wilkinsburg and William T. Ambill of Irwin, Pa.; two grandsons, Paul and Howard Ambill; one brother, Charles Kurtz, Bridgeville, Pa. Her husband died July 8, 1926 in the office of the Carnegie Steel Co., where he was employed. Mrs. Ambill was an attractive and accomplished woman. She was a member of the Reformed Church, but later joined the First United Presbyterian Church in Wilkinsburg. Dr. James Bert, her pastor, conducted the funeral services on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 8 p.m. in the Kelkilty Funeral Home, Wilkinsburg. Interment in the Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Monday afternoon, Oct. 9, in the Ambill family plot. Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Edwards, C. U. Edwards, Mrs. Henry L. Durst and Ethel Broadwater spent last Sunday with the bereaved relatives of Mrs. Ambill in Wilkinsburg. Meyersdale Republican, October 12, 1944
