  ALVERTA AMTOWER
  
  Alverta A. Amtower, 86, of Wellersburg, died Jan. 3, 1995 at Memorial
  Hospital, Cumberland, Md.  Born Sept. 14, 1908 in Meyersdale, she was a
  daughter of the late William A. and Nellie N. (Weimer) Knepp.  She was also
  preceded in death by her husband, Virgil V. Amtower, who died Dec. 24,
  1993.  She is survived by a daughter, Carley S. Welsh and husband Kenneth,
  Wellersburg; two grandchildren, Kenneth Wayne Welsh and Albert Welsh,
  Wellersburg; and a sister, Lavada M. Rogers, Garrett.
  Mrs. Amtower retired with 32 years of employement in the coning department
  at the Amcelle Plant, Celanese Corperation of America, Cumberland.  She was
  a member of the Zion Lutheran and Reformed Church of Wellersburg.  Services
  were conducted Jan. 6 at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, with
  the Rev. Harold W. Crabtree officiating.  Interment, Hillcrest Burial Park,
  Cumberland.
