ANANIA Carolyn S. Anania, 68, of Youngstown, Ohio, died Saturday, August 17, 2002, at her residence. She was born Jan. 25, 1934, in Cumberland, Md., a daughter of the late Robert L. Van Horn and Sylvia L. (Davis) Van Horn, and moved to Youngstown in 1965. Mrs. Anania retired from the Park Vista Community Center after many years as a nurse's aide and also sold Avon products. She was a life-long member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 7538 in Strthers, Ohio, where she served as vice president for two years, secretary for five years and a trustee for five years. She received a community service award and a legislation award from the VA Hospital. She was responsible for the placement of the pole and flag at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge on Market Street. She was an avid reader and crocheter. Mrs. Anania is survived by her husband, Samuel, whom she married March 24, 1969, two sons: Gary (Ruth) Anania of Audubon; and Terry Anania of Mineral Ridge, Ohio; five daughters: Theresa Cole Youngstown; Karen (Robert) Coles of Altadina, Calif.; Jovanka (Mike) Diamantes of Boardman, Ohio; Eulalie (John) Gragorace of Greenville, Ohio; and Sarah (Rick) Sause of Youngstown; and seven grandchildren: Kristin Anania, Nicholas Anania, Alyssa Moore, David Moore, James M. Sause, Megan Sause and Rickey Sause. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William M. Van Horn.
