Ankeny, 79, went to be with the Lord Nov. 20, 2005, in Somerset. Born March 27, 1926, in Milford Township, he is the son of the late Harry P. and Mabel (Andrews) Ankeny. Also preceded in death by brother Fred; infant brothers, Shelbert and Warren; grandson, Eric D. Ankeny and stepmother Mary (Hamer) Ankeny. Survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Elsie (Sarver) Ankeny; children, Larry Dale Ankeny, married to the former Yvonne Eakin, Somerset, Mrs. Philip (Nancy Jo) DenBleyker, Rockwood and Mrs. Mark (Karen) Ritchey, Somerset; grandchildren: Jennifer L. Beahr, Nathan D. Rich, Philip DenBleyker V, Lucas M. Rich, Charles DenBleyker and Caitlin M. Rich; great-grandchildren: Millie E. and Meagan C. Beahr; brother, George Ankney and wife, Thelma, Somerset and sister-in-law, Leona Ankeny, Bakersville. Member of Milford United Methodist Church where he served as trustee and member of the building committee. Lifelong truck driver, retiring from Central Truck Lines after 42 years. Member of Teamsters Union, Somerset County Truckers Association and the Moose Lodge. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Milford United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mark Ongley will officiate. Interment in Somerset County Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 168 W. Union St., Somerset, PA 15501. Harold was a loving husband, father and "Pop," who always had kind and encouraging words. He will be sadly missed by all.
