Born March 28, 1924, in Central City, a son of Ira and Lottie (Cook) Ankeny. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Corinne Boring and Twila Smith; and a brother, Harold Ankeny. Survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Pauline Kordon; daughters, Barbara, married to Richard Reeder, Wetmore, Colo.; Sheri, married to Jay Moore, Johnstown; and Karen, married to George Turner, Windber; grandchildren, Danyell, Brandy, Trail, Kristy, Ben, George Jr. and Evan; step grandchildren, Dianne, Tracey and Misty; four great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Vera Manges, Johnstown; Ruth Merringer, Central City; and Jean Larson, Cairnbrook; and brothers, Sylvan Ankeny, Brookville; and Jay Ankeny, Somerset. He is a graduate of Shade High School and a World War II Navy veteran. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown. He delivered house coal for many years, and was a local bricklayer. Ivan was a member and past president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Somerset. He was well known, respected and loved by all. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
