Born March 24, 1930, in Somerset, the son of Harry Earl and Marie L. (Rose) Ankeny. Preceded in death by parents and an infant brother. Survived by his wife, the former Joan Mildred McClintock, to whom he was married 56 years; son, David Neil Ankeny, married to the former Randee Ankeny, Somerset; grandsons, Jonathan Ankeny and wife, Sue, and Christopher Ankeny, both of Somerset; sister-in-law June Maccagnan; and niece Linda Roberts, both of White Oak.. A 1948 graduate of Somerset High School, he worked as a truck driver for Cooper-Jarret Trucking and later worked for Hemminger Homes. Also a member of Lodge 358 F&AM, Jaffa Shriners of Altoona, Somerset County Shrine Club and the Harrisburg Consistory. Also a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Somerset, Somerset Lions Club, where he was past president and held various other offices and received the Melvin Jones Award. He also was a member of Laurel Ridge Sportsmen, Over the Hill Gangs and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed his family, grandsons and their various activities. Friends were received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Eric Raygor officiating. Interment Husband Cemetery.
