Ankeny, a former resident of Meyersdale and Akron, Ohio, but of recent years residing in Connellsville, died of a complication of diseases at his home at 119 Fairview Ave., Tuesday, April 19, at 4:16 a.m. at the age of 79 years and 7 months. William Ankeny was the son of Peter and Mary (Zimmerman) Ankeny of Stoyestown. He was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Steele of Jenner Township. To this union were born six children: Howard, of Uniontown; Lester (deceased); Mrs. Ida Bosley, of Connellsville; and Misses Florence, Elizabeth and Mary, who have lived with and taken care of their father. Mr. Ankeny was an industrious man, and highly esteemed by all who knew him. He was jovial and always had a smile for everyone he met. His wife and one son preceded him to the spirit world. Besides his children, he is survived by his sister, Mrs. Catharine Smith of Meyersdale, and three grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at his late home on Thursday, April 21, at 3 p.m., Rev. Schoop of the Reformed Church conducting the services, assisted by the pastor of the Lutheran Church. The nephews of Mr. Ankeny acted as pallbearers. Interment in the Connellsville Cemetery. Undertaker Charles Mitchell had charge of the funeral. Meyersdale Republican, April 28, 1932
