Ankney, 81, Somerset RD 3, died July 28, 1979, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born March 3, 1898, in Jefferson Township, son of the late William H. and Elizabeth (Kimmel) Ankney. Also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Survived by wife, the former Anna Miller, and these children: Treatice, wife of Howard Willaman, Ligonier; Nadine, wife of Robert Knupp, and Max, both of Somerset RD 3; four grandchildren. Brother of Mrs. Lucy Walker, Somerset RD 3; Mrs. Elda Shaulis, Somerset; Mrs. Irene Rhodes, Somerset RD 6; Mrs. Walter (Marian) Kocher, Johnstown; Mrs. Earl (Velma) Barklay, Silver Springs, Md., and Emery, Berlin. Member Bethany United Methodist Church; Somerset Lodge 358, F & AM; New Castle Consistory, Jaffa Shrine; attended Lock Haven Teachers College and University of Chicago; served on Somerset Area School Board; servied 35 years as a director of Somerset Rural Electric Cooperative; a former lumberman, farmer, teacher, and employee of Consolidated Coal Co. Friends were received at Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home, where services were conducted with the Rev. Russell Hawk officiating. Interment, Bethany Cemetery.
