Born Nov. 21, 1934 in Jefferson Township, Somerset County, the son of Cloyd Earl and Laura Emma Katherine (Ferry) Ankney. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by his loving wife the former Kathryn Mae Hetrick, children Mr. David Ankney and Mr. Brian Ankney both of Somerset; two grandchildren. Brother of Ronald W. Ankney of Somerset; Mrs. Barbara Balmer of Lancaster and Mrs. Ronald M. (Pamela) Rhodes of Sipesville. A 1952 graduate of Somerset High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh. Veteran of National Guard. Member of Bethany United Methodist Church where he was a trustee and member of finance committee. He was owner and operator of the former Ankney Bros. Lumber Company. He was also owner/operator of Somerset Hardwoods Inc. and co-owned with his wife the Swiss Chalet Resturant. Member of Somerset Masonic Lodge 358. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 pm Wednesday. Friends received from 7-9 pm Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 pm Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 pm Friday at Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Barry K. Ritenour officiating. No viewing at the church. Interment Bethany Cemetery.
