He was born July 13, 1921 in Rector, a son of the late Lloyd T. and Estella Shaffer Ankney. He ws preceded in death by an infant son, four brothers: Merle, Clyde, Clair and Dean, and two sisters, Mabel Ulery and Helen Flickinger. He is survived by a daughter Joyce Tobias and her husband Darwin of Latrobe, a son Bob Ankney and his wife Shirley of Ligonier RD 2, two grandchildren, Polly Quintiliani and David Tobias, a great-grandson, Dakotah Quintiliani. Three sisters, Dorothy Hess and her husband James of Helcroft, Marie Hoffer of Donegal, Loretta Delsignore and her husband George of Boswell RD 5, and a brother Don Ankney of Rector. He was retired from Latrobe Construction and a member of Local 66. he was also a member of American Legion Byers-Tosh Post 267. Ligonier and a life member of the Mt. Pleasant VFW Post 3368. Smuch was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday at the L. Boyd Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Church St., Donegal, where services will be held at 2pm Saturday in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Warner officiating.
