He was born Jan. 24, 1898, in Hollentown, son of Theodore and Rosabelle (Hollen) Apple. He is survived by widow, former Hilda Lane; son, Bob Apple, Hollentown, Fallentimer RD.; and daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Toney, Akron, Ohio; also eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Charles Apple, Hollentown, Fallentimer RD.; Joseph Apple, Juniata; Mrs. Lillian George, Hollentown, Fallentimer RD.; and Mrs. Mabel Glasgow, Wilmington, NC. Retired coal miner and coal operator of Apple Coal Co. He was of Lutheran faith. He was a 50 year member of Berlin Lodge 461, IOOF; member of Reade Township Sportsmen's Club and active member of Cambria County Republican Club. Friends were received at Plass Funeral Home, where IOOF conducted memorial services. Funeral services were held at Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Glasgow, the Rev. Paul F. Warnke, pastor.
