Armagost, 72, 35 East Market St., Mount Union, died Dec. 11, 2005, at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. He died following an extended illness. Born June 1, 1933, in Quemahoning Township, son of the late William C. and Dorothy Pearl (Rowland) Armagost. Also preceded in death by wife, Mary Ann (Park) Armagost, on Sept. 2, 1997, whom he married May 27, 1957. Survived by three children, Park L. Armagost and wife, Linda, Glen Rock; Christine J. Armagost, Mount Union; and Leslie Armagost and husband, Todd Gleason, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren, Craig and William Armagost, and Cade Gleason. Also a brother and sister, Richard "Dick" Armagost, Three Springs and Jean Hakos, Sarasota, Fla. Aunt, Alberta Rowland, Huntingdon also survives. Dwight was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mount Union. He graduated from Hooversville High School in 1952 and earned both his bachelors and masters degrees in education from Shippensburg University. He retired from the Mount Union Area School District on June 11, 1993. He had taught for more than 30 years, both English and reading at the Mount Union Junior High School. Dwight was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after having served in the Army Security Agency in Korea during the Korean War. He also served in Somerset National Guard from 1972 to 1984, in C Company, 1st Battalion, 103rd Armored Division. He was a staff sergeant and tank commander. Dwight was a life member of the NRA; past president of the Newton-Wayne Sportsmen's Club, where he was a rifle instructor; and the American Legion Post 107, Mount Union. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, Mount Union. The Rev. David Ford and Rev. Dr. Ted Kiffer officiating. Private graveside service will be conducted Saturday at the Dublin Mills Community Church Cemetery, Dublin Mills. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
