Born Nov. 27, 1927, in Wilkes Barre. Son of the late James Morgan and Elizabeth Jane (Pearce) Arthur. Survived by wife, the former Patricia Ann Walker, to whom he was married 48 years, and these children: Mrs. Joanne Altman, widow of Keith J. Altman, of Damascus, Md.; Leland James Arthur, married to the former Elaine Watson, of Purcellville, Va.; Rhys Morgan Arthur, married to the former Christine Larsen, of Silver Spring, Md.; three grandchildren: Christina Altman and Ryan and Lauren Arthur. Brother of Mrs. Donald (Ruth Ann) Pillips of Lancaster. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on council with duties of Stewardship chairman, and member of the Finance and Endowment committees. WW II Army veteran and a member of the experimental group known as "Task Force Frigid" in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1946-47. 1950 graduate of Lehigh University with a bachelor of arts degree in finance. Employed by Bethelem Steel as a mold yard foreman. Business forcaster for Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co., retiring in 1989 with 38 years service. Also member of American Legion Post 181, Somerest Lions Culb, serving as secretary for many years, and also Zone Chariman. Active with Meals on Wheels, Lodge 357, F&AM Somerset County Club. Fan and surpporter of Johnstown Symphony Orchestra. Member of the "Apprise Program" at the Senior Center. He exemplified the Lions motto of "We-Serve" Friends received from 7-9 pm Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 pm Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1pm Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset, with the Rev. Robert L. Hoover Jr. officiating. Interment Husband Cuemetery.
