Born March 17, 1927 in Somerset Township the son of Charles A. and Bessie Grace (Moore) Ash. Preceded in death by father Charles A. Ash, mother Bessie Grace (Moore) Ash-Skaptaukas; stepfather Peter Paul Skaptaukas, son Alan Lee Ash who died April 28, 2004, and brother Henry L. Ash. Survived by wife the former Eleanor Romaine Roberts, to whom he was married 57 years. Daughter Tammy Lynn Ash, Huntingdon; brother of Mrs. D. Elaine Bray, Chapin, S.C.; Mrs. Anthony (Jean) Pensiero, Somerset, Foster sister Mrs. Edmund (Josephine) Bittner, Cleveland, Ohio. Member of First Christian Church, a 1945 graduate of Somerset High School, World War II veteran U.S. Navy Pacific Theatre, VFW Post 554 and American Legion Post 181. Retired owner and operator of the former Summit Machinery Co. of Somerset from 1971 to 1991. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home where a service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday. Pastor Daniel Nicksich and Pastor John J. Barchey officiating. Interment Beams Cemetery. Contributions may be given to the Somerset Chapter American Cancer Society, 168 W. Union St., Somerset, Pa. 15501.
