Ashby, clerk to the county commissioners, died at her home in Oakland, Wednesday evening, after an illness of several years. She was born May 16, 1892, in Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Charles U. and Carrie (Yeager) Edwards of Grantsville. Surviving are her husband, one son, Harold Ashby, who is attending school in Tennessee; a daughter, Eloise Ashby of Oakland, and a niece, Miss Chrystal Elliott, whom Mr. and Mrs. Ashby had reared since childhood; one sister, Mrs. C. E. Ashby of Grantsville; a half-sister, Mrs. James Frame of Kingwood, W.Va.; three brothers, William G. Edwards of Baltimore, George D. and Harry C. Edwards of Grantsville. Mrs. Ashby was an active member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, a past worthy matron of the Eastern Star, and also a member of the Phythian Sisters. Funeral services were conducted at the Bolden Funeral Home, Saturday afternoon, with Dr. Denver C. Pickens, Methodist pastor, officiating. Interment was made in the Oakland Cemetery. Relatives from Grantsville who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. George Edwards, Mrs. C. E. Ashby, Mrs. Roy Mickey, the Rev. and Mrs. D. J. Combs.
