ROY FREDERICK ASHBY

Grantsville, Maryland

  Cleve Ashby, of Ashby Tavern, was called to Crellin Wednesday evening by the 
sudden death of his brother, Roy Frederick Ashby, who died about noon Wednesday, 
at the home of Roy Mickey.  Mr. Ashby, who has a number of relatives in this 
section, was born at Hutton, Sept. 23, 1882 and was 58 years of age.  He was a 
son of the late John and Minnie Ashby.
  Surviving are his wife and two sons, Phray Ashby, Elkins, W.Va., Melvin Ashby, 
who is stationed in California with the U.S. Army; three brothers, Cleve Ashby, 
Grantsville; Jesse Ashby, Bergoo, W.Va.; Ray Ashby, Crellin; and four sisters, 
Mrs. Marshall Saunders, Crellin; Mrs. Florence Wilt, Marlington, W.Va.; Mrs. 
Bessie Fraley, Ellmore, W.Va., and Mrs. Mary Loomis, Elkton.  Funeral services 
were conducted from the Crellin church Saturday.  Rev. E. A. Crites, Lock Lynn, 
officiated.
