His parents received notice to that effect from the War Department. But due to the fact that they received mail from him, sent from Southampton, England, December 17, the date of his reported death, and also because they received notice that he was promoted from Private First Class to T/5 after that date, the family were inclined to believe that the report of his death was erroneous. However, they have not received any further word from him since receipt of that postmarked Southampton, England, Dec. 17, so they have finally been forced to the conclusion that he died on the same day that he dispatched the last mail they received from him. The family had been looking forward to his return from overseas for the last few months, but have now abandoned all hope that they will ever see him again. The sad news has been a great shock to them. Glenn entered military service at the age of 18 and had been overseas 20 months, most of the time in England. Besides his parents he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Cyril Kelly and Mrs. J. Wilbur Hay, both of Meyersdale - and two brothers - Raymond, of Cumberland, Md., and Eugene, at home.
