    Wilbur F. "Bill" Awtey, 68, Ferrellton, died Aug. 31, 2008, at home. Born
  Aug. 12, 1940, in Jenners, the son of the late Wilbur and Pauline (Lape) Awtey.
  Survived by wife of 47 years, the former Linda J. Layman; sons, Barry, married
  to Lorie Boyer and Bryan, married to Kelly Slickerman,  both of Jenners;
  grandchildren,  Ashley, Carley, Taylor and Jordan;  and sister-in- law, Barbara
  Watts,  Longmont, Colo. A 1958 graduate of the former JBJ Joint Schools,
  Boswell. Former coal miner and retired employee of Scheffel Equipment Co.,
  Somerset and Johnstown. Member of the UMWA. Was involved in local auto racing
  for more than 50 years and building chassis and engines, traditions carried on
  by his sons. Viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
  Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 409 Main St.,
  Boswell, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Shawn M.
  Ostrander officiating. Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery. In lieu of
  flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society, 168 W. Union St., Somerset,
  PA 15501 or the Conemaugh Regional Hospice, 315 Locust St., Suite 5E,
  Johnstown, PA 15901, would be appreciated.
