HAYES S. AYERS

  Hayes S. Ayers, 69, Spanish-American War veteran, died suddenly Wednesday 
morning, June 19, at his home in Berlin.  He was born Sept. 24, 1876, at 
McElvey's Fort, Huntingdon County, the son of Samuel and Susan (Erye) Ayres.  
Surviving are his wife, Nellie (Dively) Ayres; a son, Alton Ayres, Pikeville, 
Ky.; three daughters - Mrs. Harry Newcomer, Rockwood; Mrs. William E. Ball, 
Sipesville, and Mrs. Ernest Landis, Berlin, and one brother, Fred Ayres, Tyrone.
  Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Johnson and Son 
Funeral Home with Rev. Robert S. Nagle, pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 
officiating.  Burial in the IOOF Cemetery.
