The Somerset herald: (Somerset, Pa.) 1870-1936: September 22, 1875
On Wednesday morning, Sept. 15, at half past eight o'clock, Daniel Baird, aged 83
years and 4 months. Mr. Baird was born in York County, Pa., May 15, 1792, where his
boyhood days were spent. Upon the breaking out of the War of 1812, he enlisted and
served under Capt. Meredith, until discharged in 1814, when he removed to and has
ever since lived in Somerset borough, where in 1818, he married one of the late
Judge Kurtz’s daughters, who with eight of their eleven children, survive him. He
was a member of the German Reformed Church…
