(Somerset, Pa.): January 20, 1892 John Bowman. Sr., aged eighty-three years, died suddenly Sunday morning at 3 o'clock at the home of his son, about midway between Stoystown and Hooversville, on the Hooversville Road, Quemahoning Township. Mr. Bowman bad been suffering with asthma for a number of years, and early Sunday morning got up to fix the fire, and as he was doing so, he fell over dead. He was born in the township in which he died in 1809, and had been all his life a hard working farmer. His wife, whose maiden name was Lohr, died three years ago. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bowman, namely: Mrs. Samuel S. Swank and Mrs. Charles Weigle, of Hooversville: Mrs. Joseph Kocher, of near Stoyestown; Mrs. Jeremiah Maurer, Mrs. J. E. Griffin, and Noah and Benjamin Bowman, of Stoyestown; Henry Bowman of Johnstown, and John, Jr, who lives at the farm where his father died.
