P. Baer, local plumber and proprietor of Baer and Co., died Friday morning at the residence of her son-in- law and daughter, Mrs. R. H. Bowman, North St., from a complication of ailments. Mrs. Baer had been residing at her daughter's home since an explosion caused by a gas leak wrecked the Baer residence near Berlin several weeks ago. Mrs. Baer was rescued from her home at the time, the structure having caught fire following the explosion. She had been in ill health at the time of the accident. The deceased was born in Somerset County, July 23, 1874, a daughter of George and Ellen (Sevitz) Liberty. In addition to her husband, she is survived by these children: Mrs. R. H. Bowman, mentioned above; Miss Pearl Ellen Baer, Miss Mabel Marie Baer and George Charles Baer, all of Meyersdale. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Charles K. Darrah, of Akron, O.; two brothers, James and William Liberty, of Listie, and a number of step-brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the Bowman residence. The Rev. N. V. Leatherman of the Brethren Church at Berlin conducted the services, assisted by the Rev. O. A. Lorenz, pastor of the Meyersdale Brethren Church. Interment was made in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Berlin, in charge of W. C. Price and Son, local morticians. Meyersdale Republican, March 21, 1940
