(Cubby) Baer, 64, Washington, D.C., formerly of Boswell, died July 8, 1980, at home. Born June 8, 1916, in Boswell, son of Lewis and Edith (Geiger) Baer. Preceded in death by parents, two infant brothers, and two sisters, Mary McCann and Ruth Perian. Survived by widow, the former Ida Schenck; daughters Edith, wife of Joseph Taylor, Brentwood, Md., and Judith, wife of George Whetzel, Forestville, Md.; five grandchildren; brother of Ethel and Edna, wife of Homer Winters, both of Boswell. Member F.O.P., Washington, D.C. Graduate of former Boswell High School class of 1936. Army veteran of World War 2, he served with the 101st Airborne Division. Retired railroad worker and former U.S. Deputy Marshall. Friends will be received 4-9 p.m. Friday and until time of service, 2 p.m. Saturday, at Hoffman Funeral Home, 227 Allegheny St., Boswell, the Rev. George A. Clark officiating.
