Mr. Baer, who retired some years ago, was formerly employed as a truck driver for the Atlantic Refining Company. He was born in Somerset County on June 10, 1881, a son of Peter D. Baer and the late Harriet (Judy) Baer. Mr. Baer is survived by his wife, Carrie Walker Baer, two children, Glenn Baer, of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Irene Giacomo of Canton, Ohio; his father, Peter D. Baer, Meyersdale; one brother, Peter L. Baer, of Meyersdale R.D.; five sisters, Mrs. Lillian Saler of Meyersdale; Mrs. Maggie Rhoads, of Somerset; Mrs. Eliza McGuire, of Turkeyfoot; Mrs. Ada Handwerk of Brothersvalley, and Mrs. Bertha Walker of Meyersdale R.D.; and one granddaughter, Sandra Giacomo, of Canton, Ohio. A brief funeral service was held at the Baer home at 2 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon, August 12, followed by a service at the Hay's Reformed Church, with the pastor of the local Lutheran church in charge of the service. Interment was made in the Hay's Church Cemetery under the direction of H. R. Konhaus, local mortician. Meyersdale Republican, August 15, 1941
