Baer, 80, Meyersdale RD 4, died Jan. 16 in Maple Mountain Manor. Born Dec. 19, 1907 in Meyersdale, son of the late Cyrus M. and Anna (Grime) Baer. Survived by wife, Mildred Wiland and these children: Richard L., Witicha [sic] Falls, Texas, Theodore O., Lee Summit, Mo., Gary F., Glen Burney, Md., Gwendolyn, wife of Robert Mays, Virginia, wife of Carl Platt, both of Berlin and Sally, wife of Harvey Miller, Meyersdale, 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Also a sister, Esther Deneen of Hyndman. Retired postal worker and employee of Galatin National Bank. Life member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served as Sunday School superintendent, Sunday School teacher and on the church council and sang in the church choir. Veteran of World War II. Member and past commander of the Charles E. Kelly Post American Legion, past commander of the Somerset County American Legion, past Chem de Gare of the 40 and 8. Member of the Meyersdale Loyal Order of Moose and Meyersdale Masonic Lodge. Past high priest of the Hebron R.A.C., Harrisburg Consistory and the Ali Ghan Shrine Club. Former member of the Meyersdale Borough Council. Former scout master and neighborhood commissioner of Troup 142. Friends will be received at Leckemby Funeral Home, Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Ralph Mills officiating. Interment, Union Cemetery.
