Baer died at his home in Greenville Township Friday, December 2, following a long illness which became serious in the last several weeks. He was born in Greenville Township September 10, 1866, a son of Elijah and Mary (Beal) Baer. He was aged 83 years, 2 months and 22 days. He was a farmer all his life until he retired a number of years ago. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary (Miller) Baer; seven sons: Elmer Baer, Salisbury; Allen Baer, Upper Middletown; Henry Baer, Somerset; Clay Baer, Meyersdale; and Irvin, Norman and Wilson Baer, Salisbury, Route 1; by two daughters; Mrs. Minerva Schlinger, McChoricstown, Ohio and Mrs. Thomas Lancaster, Frostburg, Md.; by two brothers; Andrew and Owen Baer, Meyersdale Route 3; by three sisters; Mrs. Savilla Sass and Mrs. Harvey Miller, Meyersdale, Route 3, and Mrs. Fred F. Arnold, Salisbury, Route 1, and by 21 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at his home at 10:30 a.m. Monday with the Rev. George E. Bowersox Jr., pastor of the Greenville Lutheran Church, of which he was a member, officiating. Interment was made in the Greenville Cemetery in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas.
