Baer, 83, died at his home in Akron, Ohio, Monday. He was a son of the late Peter and Barbara Hostetler Baer, and was born in Meyersdale September 18, 1863. Before locating in Akron he was for many years in the employ of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in several capacities, rising to the position of engineer on the local division of the road. In Akron he was employed by the Goodyear Rubber Co. for 20 years. Surviving are a daughter and two sons - Barbara and George Baer, of Akron, Ohio, and William Baer, of Windber. He also leaves one brother, Charles P. Baer, head of Baer & Co., one of Meyersdale's largest mercantile and plumbing firms. The body arrived in Meyersdale at noon Wednesday. Funeral services Thursday, January 9, at 10 a.m. at the Price Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. H. J. Gotjen, pastor of the First Methodist Church, of which he was for many years a member. Interment in Union Cemetery, under the direction of W. C. Price & Son, local morticians. Meyersdale Republican, January 9, 1947
