BAIRD

Marie J. Baird, 87, Somerset, formerly of Boswell, died Oct. 8, 1983, at 
Somerset Community Hospital. Born June 6, 1896, Somerset Township, daughter of 
Dibert and Lucy (Parks) Griffith. Preceded in death by parents; husband, George 
Robert, died July 30, 1951; son, James; daughter, Lucille Galvin; infant son, 
Donald; and brother, Jesse Griffith. Survived by these children: George, married 
to former Geneva Sabin, Yuma, Ariz.; Fred, married to former Caroline Calisti, 
Boswell; John, married to former Ofelia Soto, Corpus Christi, Texas; Ronald 
(Cubby), Boswell; and Elizabeth (Rissie) wife of Jack Walker, Somerset. Also 
sister-in-law, Elizabeth Griffith, Stoystown RD 1; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-
grandchildren. Member of Zion Hoffman Lutheran Church. Friends were received 
Sunday evening and will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral 
Home, 409 Main St., Boswell, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the 
Rev. Richard A. Schlak. Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery.
