Baker, 81, Casselman, passed on Aug. 19, 2008, at Golden Living Center, Meyersdale. Born Feb. 8, 1927, in Black Township, the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Mosholder) Baker. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Bransby and Betty Kayser; and infant brother, Edward. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis (Milliken) Baker; children, Christine Sakalas and husband, Jay, Casselman; Chester E. Baker Jr. and wife, Beverly, Rockwood; Kathy Griffith and husband, Lester, Mesa, Ariz.; and Corey Baker, Payson, Ariz.; six grand- children, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Ferrell, Vienna, Ohio; Doloris Bungard, Elyria, Ohio; Ann Margaret Gindlesperger, Somerset; and Mary Ream, Niles, Ohio; and brothers, Dale Baker, Wakeman, Ohio; Charles Baker Jr. and Carl Baker, both of Lorraine, Ohio; and Donald Baker, Rockwood. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Somerset American Legion Post 181 and the Rockwood American Legion Post 279. He was a retired custodian for the Rockwood School District and also a retired deep coal miner. He also supplied campfire wood to Scottyland Park for 25 years. He was a member of the Casselman United Methodist Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Rockwood. A service of full military rites will be accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard 4 p.m. Saturday. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Casselman United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ed Meyers and the Rev. Linda Dinger officiating. Interment at Rockwood IOOF Cemetery.
