Baker, 82, the son of Samuel and Mary Miller Baker, died November 19. He was born and raised near Salisbury, where the family engaged in farming. He and his first wife, Mary Keim Baker, moved to Uniontown, Fayette County, during the 1920's and continued to farm and operate several coal mines in the Masontown-New Geneva area. Following retirement in 1956, Mr. Baker moved to Vista, California and continued to live there until his death at Tri-City Hospital, Oceanside, following a recurring bout with cancer. Surviving are his widow, Margaret Goldsborough Baker; the following children: Dr. Grace Goebel, Ross, Calif.; Ruth Lang, San Diego, Calif.; Betty Shadburn, Long Beach, Calif.; Virginia Shallenberger, Marietta, Ohio; Marie Long, Pasadena, Calif.; thirteen grandchildren, and one sister, Orpha Wagner, Phoenix, Arizona. Services were conducted by Dr. Graeme Smith, Vista Community Church, of which Mr. Baker was an active member and elder. Interment rites were held at Eternal Hills, Oceanside, Calif., November 20, 1976. Meyersdale Republican, December 2, 1976 [B0153]
