Baker of Bel Air died November 16, 2006 at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He was 60. Born in Meyersdale, he was the son of Arlen E. and Nell M. (Beal) Baker of Bel Air. Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Carolyn G. Baker; one son, James D. Baker, Bel Air, MD; two brothers: Gary S. Baker and his wife, Buttons, Bel Air, MD; and Randy L. Baker, Bel Air, MD; one sister, Deborah S. Wyatt, Bel Air, MD; his Aunt Mary and Uncle Budd Diveley, Johnstown,; and his significant other, Melissa Reddin and her daughter, Jamie Gibson, both of Bel Air, MD. Mr. Baker was a 1964 graduate from Salisbury Elk Lick High School in Salisbury. After graduation, he served in the Army. He retired as a lieutenant after serving more than 24 years in the Harford County Sheriff's Office. He also served in the Montgomery County Police Department and the Maryland State Police. Mr. Baker was a 1982 graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. He graduated from Towson University with a degree in psychology and sociology and obtained his master's degree in criminal justice from the University of Baltimore. After retirement, he worked at Loyola College in security and obtained the rank of major. He also worked for Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Services were conducted November 21, 2006 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Kenneth E. Tipton officiating. Interment was in Bel Air Memorial Gardens, MD. Pallbearers were James Baker, Gary Baker, Randy Baker, Christopher Baker, Brett Cochran and Ryan Orsini. Condolences may be sent to Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Baker, 9-Natwood Road, Bel Air, MD 21014.
