Baker, 80, of Stoystown, died June 22, 2000, at Somerset Hospital. Born April 3, 1920, in Sipesville, son of Clyde and Edna (Shaulis) Baker. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Gene and Jack, and sister Faye Leaphart. Survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Hazel Berkebile; two children: Bonnie, married to Cliff Scheufele, of Coral Springs, Fla., and Danny "Butch," married to the former Connie Davis, of Hagerstown, Md.; and grandchildren Shawn and Scott Baker and Margot Scheufele. Also brother Barrie Baker of Sipesville. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Retired coal miner and construction worker. Member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, U.M.W.A., Labor Local 910, Somerset V. F.W., Stoystown American Legion Post and Jenner and Quemahoning Rod and Gun clubs. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, the Rev., Dennis Doebler officiating.
