Baker, 57, of Fairhope, died April 10, 1995, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born June 26, 1937, at Cumberland, Md., he was a son of the late George A. Baker and Laura S. (Shaffer) Baker Simon. Mr. Baker was employed as the postmaster at the Fairhope Post Office and previously had been the owner and operator of Baker's Tavern in Fairhope. He attended Fairhope Community Church and was a member of Hyndman Lodge 589, F. & A.M. He is survived by his wife, Bernice M. (Miller) Baker; a son, Jeffrey L. Coughenour, and wife Lesa (Twigg) Coughenour, Fairhope; two daughters, Barbara J. and husband Bruce Gallagher, Somerset, and Sandra D. Baker and fiance Roy Getson, Middletown; a brother, Joseph J. Simon Jr., Hyndman and 4 grandchildren: Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Daniel E. Leister officiating. Interment, Mount Lebanon Cemetery near Glencoe.
