Baker, 59, of Springdale, Pa., formerly of Bakersville, died May 21, 1977, Somerset Community Hospital. Born Jan. 21, 1918, Middlecreek Township, Somerset County, a son of Roy W. and Carrie M. (Pyle) Baker. Survived by his widow the former Mary Paulene Walters, and these children: Mrs. Anthony (Donna) Cappello and Mrs. Eugene (Patty) Bothel, both of York; Mrs. Leondore (Barbara) Barron, Rochester, N.Y.; Mrs. James (Linda) Tall; Randy and Thomas, all of Somerset RD 6; and Mrs. Cathy Summers, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; six grandchildren. He was a brother of Mrs. Harold (Mary) Gardner of Somerset; Mrs. Earl (Blanche) Gardner, Somerset RD 4; and Mrs. Edwin (Sarah) Brant, Lake Milton, Ohio. Preceded in death by three brothers. He was a veteran of World War II; member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Bakersville. Operating Engineers Local 66 of Monroeville, and the VFW, 6955 of Burketstown. Friends received after 7 P.m. Monday at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home. Services conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Bakersville, with the Rev. Walter Startzell officiating. Interment, Bakersville Cemetery. Body will lie in state at the church from 9 a.m. until time of service. Family requests that contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Bakersville.
