NECK BROKEN BY FALL, On Sunday morning the two sons of Peter Meyers of Garrett, while following an opossum trail with their dog found the dead body of J. J. Baker, of Garrett about a quarter of a mile east of that place. The unfortunate man had evidently fallen over a ten foot embankment and broken his neck, death being instantaneous. Baker was employed by the B. & O. as pumper at their water station at Garrett and had been missing from his boarding house since Friday evening and his whereabouts was a mystery. Early Friday evening he was seen at different places in Garrett by a number of people. He boarded with Mrs. Mance Bauchman, who lives one half mile east of the town along the road to Meyersdale and it is supposed that while going home late Friday night through a blinding snowstorm that he lost his way and fell over the bank. Mrs. Bauchman did not feel alarmed over Mr. Baker's absence as he had been absenting himself several days at a time. He had many relatives in this section who were shocked to hear of his untimely death. The remains were taken to Undertaker Tressler of Meyersdale and interment was made at this place on Tuesday.
