She was born in Pine Hill, Pa. a daughter of Clarence and Doretta Lentz Hay. She attended school in Pine Hill and obtained a teaching certificate from California State Normal School. She taught school in Pennsylvania for five years. Her first husband, Norman B. Werner, died in 1918. She married Roy E. Baker in 1923. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of State Street Church, the Afternoon Guild Woodfords Club, Longfellows Garden Club, Cape Elizabeth Garden Club and Victoria Society of Maine. Surviving am her husband of Cape Elizabeth, a son, James R. Baker of North Syracuse, N.Y.; two daughters: Tessibell Werner Dodge of St. Paul, Minn.; and Gene Elaine Taylor of Bolton, Mass.; two sisters: Mrs. Ellis (Sallie) Werner of Johnstown and Mrs. Mark (Harriet) Maust of St. Paul, Pa.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A funeral was held Wednesday, Dec. 1 at Hobbs Funeral Home, South Portland, Maine, the Rev. James Fletcher officiating. Burial was held in Riverside Cemetery, Cape Elizabeth.
