Baker of Boynton, died at her home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12, of organic heart disease. Mrs. Baker was in poor health for some time when on Sept. 2, 1944, she was notified by the War Department that her son, Pvt. Hubert E. Baker, had been killed in action in France on August 15th, and the shock of his death caused her to become bedfast, and she never recovered. Mrs. Baker was born in Cumberland, Md., on Dec. 3, 1867, daughter of Abner and Alice (Lasure) Somerville, and was married in Hazen, Md., in 1887. Her husband died on April 17, 1938. She was 77 years, 2 months and 9 days old at her death. She is survived by three daughters; Mabel, at home; Zella, wife of John Bowman, of Boynton, and Eleanor, wife of Samuel Yutzy of Garrett; one son, W. Garland Baker, postmaster of Boynton; two brothers, H. W. Somerville of Rock Falls, Ill., and E. W. Somerville of Slate Mills, Va., and by eleven grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at her home at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, by Rev. Sherwood C. Keiser. Interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Mortician Stanley M. Thomas in charge.
