Kresge received a telephone message this morning informing his (him?) of the death of one of his faithful members, Michael Baker of near Deal. Mr. Baker was a very aged and highly respected citizen. He made his home with his son, Alfred. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Kresge to officiate. Meyersdale Commercial, July 20, 1916 --- Michael Baker was born on April 19th, 1836 and died July 19, aged 80 years and 3 months. He resided in Greenville Township during life, served three years in the Civil War, was wounded in the battle near Harper's Ferry. He belonged to Company G, 54th Regiment of Pa. he was one of a family of seventeen children, all of whom are dead except one brother Joseph, Sr. of Greenville Township. Mr. Baker was the father of ten children, of whom eight are living. His wife died 21 years ago last June. Mr. Baker was a highly respected citizen and spent the last twelve years of his life with his son, Albert of Greenville Township. He was a member of the Reformed Church. Interment was made in the cemetery on the farm of Lewis Knepp in Larimer Township on Friday, July 21st. Rev. A. S. Kresge, his pastor officiating. His death was caused by chronic nephritis.
