Born Jan. 9, 1922, in Somerset, the son of the late; Norbert and Anna (Halbrock) Baker-Layton. His wife, the former Maxine Lape to whom he was married 58 years, also died April 2, 2001. Survived by daughter, Mrs. Blaine (Kathy) Trent of Somerset; and Mary Ann Baker Fulks, wife of Barry of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Johann Baker Fulks and Andreas Fulks; step-grandchildren, Rebecca and Bradley Trent. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Retired produce and dairy department manager for A&P Tea Co., for more than 40 years. U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Life member of VFW Post 554, Somerset, where he joined in April 1945. Past post commander from 1949-50. Post quartermaster for over 20 years, ending in 1990. Past District 23 commander, 1989-90. Military order of Cooties, Pup Tent 59. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Robert L.
