Baker, 80, Boswell RD 1, died Nov. 1, 1996, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Jan. 17, 1916, in Garrett County, Md., son of Solomon and Elsie (Shunk) Baker. Preceded in death by parents, sister, Edna Hoffman and brothers: Paul, John and Harry. Survived by his wife, the former Marie Homer, numerous nieces and nephews, and sister, Helen Swauger, New Boston, Mich. Faithful member of the Ridge Church of the Brethren, Hooversville RD 1, and the adult Sunday school class of the church. Also member of Local 1742 U.M.W.A and Local 126 I.B.E.W. Would have observed 59th wedding anniversary Nov. 28, 1996. Avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. Friends received from noon to 4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, and until time of service at 1 p.m. Monday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny St., Boswell, with the Rev. Brian N. Simmons officiating.
