Baltzer, 73, Patriot Manor, formerly of Shanksville, died Aug. 13, 1999, at Somerset Hospital. Born Feb. 4, 1926, in Berlin. Preceded in death by father, William G. Baltzer, and mother, Mary Olivia (Deeter) Baltzer; wives: Emma Evangeline (Bauermaster) Baltzer (mother of all their children) and Mary (Yoder) Baltzer. Survived by these children: Karen Gibson, Somerset; Cindy, married to Joe Sanford, Erie; Douglas, married to the former Maureen Smelko, and Michael, both of Sarasota, Fla.; Holly, married to Ron Hostetler, Hershey; Elizabeth, married to Jeffrey Fallon, Pittsburgh; and these grandchildren: Laura, Erin, Adam and Matthew Gibson; Derek Sanford, married to the former Kim Buckeye, Brandon and Jinelle Sanford; Jared, Janna, Bekah and Kensi Hostetler; Shannon Baltzer, Ben, Jake and Sam Fallon, and great-grandchild, Caleb Sanford. Former owner of Shanksville Builders Supply Co. and William D. Baltzer and Son Contractors. Was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed golfing. He was an Army Air Corps World War II veteran. Member of Stonycreek Valley American Legion, Stonycreek Rod, and Gun Club and was one of the original developers of Lake, Stonycreek and Indian Lake. Lifelong member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Shanksville, where funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday. No viewing at the church. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Shanksville, Pa. 15560.
