All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ LYDIA BANGERD Mrs. Lydia Bangerd, aged 70, died on Thursday, October 1st, at her home on Salisbury Street, following an illness of several months, from a complication of diseases. She was a daughter of Matthew and Catherine (Durst) Patton, and was born near Salisbury, Pa., March 12th, 1861. She was confirmed as a member of the Reformed Church by Rev. Calvin U. Heilman at Salisbury, January 10, 1875, and always adhered to the Reformed faith. On November 6, 1887, she was married to Henry Bangerd at Salisbury, by Rev. J. M. Evans. To them were born four children, three of whom survive: Mary Kathryn Tewell of Baltimore, Md., Martha Viola, of Pittsburgh, and Joe, at home. William died in 1918. Her husband preceded her to the grave twenty-one years ago. The following grandchildren also survive: Kathryn Spence of Washington, D.C., and Eileen Bangerd of Meyersdale. Funeral services were conducted in Amity Reformed Church on Saturday, October 3rd, at 3 o'clock, in charge of the Rev. B. A. Black, pastor, assisted by Dr. A. E. Truxal. A quartet from the church choir sang "Abide With Me," "In the Garden" and "Face to Face." Interment was made in the church cemetery, Undertaker William C. Price having charge of the burial arrangements. Mrs. Bangerd was a highly esteemed member of the community and will be sadly missed by all her kinfolks and neighbors.
