Mrs. Bangs was born March 31, 1913 in Salisbury, a daughter of the late Irwin J. and Cora Newman Engle. She was the wife of the late Professor O. Ernest Bangs who died August 10, 1995. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bangs is predeceased by her brothers, John, Charles "Rip," Fred, Paul, and Dale Engle. Survivors include her two daughters, C (Dr. Gregory Matloff) Bangs, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Christine (Dr. Joseph) Hall, Inverell, New South Wales, Australia; three grandchildren, Anna Hall (Jeremy) Andrews and Joshua Hall, both of Queensland, Australia; and Ashur Hall, Canberra, Australia; a niece, Dorothy James, Pennsylvania; and several other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bangs was a member of the Congregational Church in Ithaca. Prior to her retirement in 1972, she was a registered nurse at Sage Infirmary at Cornell University since 1958. She obtained her bachelors degree in nursing from West Penn University and during World War II she worked as a nurse in a hospital in Providence, R.I. After retirement, Mrs. Bangs and Professor Bangs lived and worked at the Cornell branch of the School of Hotel Administration in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Burial will be Wednesday at Salisbury Cemetery in Salisbury. If desired, memorials may be made in Isabelle Engle Bangs' name to Hospicare in Ithaca. Arrangements were completed by the Herson Funeral Home in Ithaca, N.Y.
