Born June 14, 1916, in Meyersdale, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Mary F. Banks. He graduated from Meyersdale High School where he was a football star for the school and the fire department. He moved to Baltimore at an early age and was employed at Eastern Stainless Steel for 30 years. Charles is survived by his wife, Ethel Led, and four sisters, Mary Reed, of Baltimore, Nannie Dorsey, of Cumberland, Md.; Mabel and Florence Banks, of Meyersdale, two sons, Donald and Ivory Lewis, two daughters-in-law, five grandchildren, niece Louise Clegg, foster niece, one sister-in-law and a host of relatives and friends. Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Baltimore, March 22. The Republic, March 31, 1988 [B0341]
