Barchey Sr., 88, of Pleasant Hill Road, Somerset, died May 5, 1998, at Somerset Hospital. Born Jan. 24, 1910, in Wells Creek, son of the late Joseph and Maud (James) Barchey. Preceded in death by wife, Dorothy, in 1994. Also brothers, Edward and George, and sisters, Maggie Nedrow and Sadie Beitzel. Survived by these children: John J. Jr., of Vanderbilt; Mrs. Ed (Alice) Stansbury of Houston, Texas; and Mrs. Fred (Kay) Ogline of Locust Grove, Va. Also, grandchildren, Fred L. Ogline, Michelle Ogline, Gasperoni and Jennifer (Ogline) Miller; and great-grandchildren, Eric, Brian and Cara Gasperoni and Zoe Ogline. Veteran of U.S. Navy, World War II. Lifelong member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Somerset; charter member of Friedens Volunteer Fire Department and member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Owned and operated Barchey's Market in Friedens. Friends will be received from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Church, where family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Rev. Charles Olson officiating.
